It is a monocotyledonous, angiosperm plant that can grow up to 2m tall. The diameter of stem is about 1-2cm. The stems are always covered with brown hairs. It is a common cultivated plant and has many varieties.
The leaves are like other plants in the same family that have parallel veins arranged like a hand. There are 5-7 leaflets arranged in each "leaf". Each leaf is about 2.5-5cm wide and dark green in color.
