It is an evergreens tree that cam grow up to 10 m tall with young parts and inflorescence with star-shaped soft hairs. They are grown as roadside trees.

It has long-stalked leaves ovate to broad lanceolate, 10-18cm long with an acuminate apex. The base is acute to heart-shaped; the upper side of the an leaf is glabrous, underside covered with star-shaped soft hairs with the entire margin 3-5 lobed. The leaf stalk is 6-12cm long with small glands which are light pink and stalkless at the top.

It blooms from spring to summer. T he panicle is 10-15cm long with white flowers, each 8mm long. There are separate male and female flowers on the same plant. The 3-lobled calyx is about 3mm long covered with felt hairs; the petals are obovate-lanceolate; stamens, 15-20 in number, are on the elevated receptacle.

The fruits are ovate fleshy stone fruits which are 5-6cm long with one or two seeds. They are poisonous
