Peregrina is an evergreen shrub or small tree. It has a rounded or narrow domed form which can grow up to 4.5 m tall with a spread of 3 m wide.
The leaves are extremely variable; they may be entire and elliptic or oval, or they may be fiddle shaped, or they may have three sharp pointed lobes. They are bronze when young and brownish on the underside.
The flowers are gathered in clusters of star shaped, with bright scarlet or vermilion in colour. They are about an inch across and bloom almost all year around.
Like many species in same family, Euphorbiaceae, peregrina
contains a milky sap that can irritate sensitive skin. All parts of the plant
are reported to be poisonous if ingested.
