It is a dicotyledon, angiosperm, slow-growing, ornamental sub-tropical shrub up to 1.8 m tall.

Its leaves are coriaceous, ovate or elliptic, slender-pointed with finely toothed margin. Grown in alternate, the leaves are leathery, waxy and shinning dark green. It has smooth surface. The size is about 5-10 cm x 2-5cm.

It blooms from winter to spring. Flowers are large, up to 9cm across. It is stalkless with deciduous snow-white double petals, borne singly at branch ends.

There is no information about the fruits. The plants are usually propagated by cutting and grafting.
