Scientific Name: Acacia confusa

Common Name: Taiwan Acacia台灣相思

Family Name: Mimosaceae含羞草科

It is an evergreen, dicotyledonous, angiosperm tree which can grow up to 6-15m tall. Though native plants of Taiwan and the Philippines, they also grow well in Hong Kong.

The leaf is modified from the branchlet of the stem, simple and alternate. It is about 6-11cm long, crescent shaped with parallel veins. In the seeding stage, compound leaves, with reticulate venation, are produced.

It blooms in early summer; the flowers are bisexual. Each individual flower is very small but are grouped together in spherical, regular yellow heads with fragrance.

Its fruits are flattened pods, 4-9cm long dark brown in colour when dry. Each pod contains 4-8 seeds, which are dispersed by splitting open the pod.
